General Responsibilities

The Subrogation Claims Specialist is primarily responsible for recovering money on cases involving damage to our vehicles from the responsible parties. The Subrogation Claims Specialist must maintain a current handling of their portfolio of cases from time of billing up until the resolution of the case. The Subrogation Claims Specialist interacts with the debtors and their recovery capacity will be a combination of obtaining firm payment information while maintaining a good relationship with the customer and their insurance carrier. Procedures have been developed to provide a systematic way of dealing with subrogation claims collections while also retaining our customer’s loyalty. This position will work closely with the Hertz field teams (rental locations, maintenance department, etc) to resolve sensitive issues and customer disputes. Communication skills are critical to one’s effectiveness in obtaining resolution of accounts.

 

  1. Investigate, negotiate, subrogate and settle first and third party losses.
  2. Maintain recovery targets set forth each month
  3. Ensure cases are called as scheduled and aging is maintained.
  4. Demonstrate professionalism when dealing with contacts.
  5. Maximize Collection efforts and customer satisfaction.
  6. Practice collection and research techniques to ensure timely resolution.
  7. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all activity.
  8. Submit claims for referral and write-off.
  9. Develop a systematic approach for case reviews and calls.
  10. Include Customer Relations when addressing sensitive case issues.
  11. Include Hertz Sales when addressing sensitive case issues.
  12. Respond to inquiries within 24 hours to maintain customer service.
  13. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Mandatory Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • One year Insurance Claims experience and/or collections experience
  • Basic working knowledge with Microsoft Word and Excel (pre – employment assessment required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills/experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to work well with others
  • Must be attentive to detail
  • Must be an independent worker and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Criminal background check due to access to Personal identifiable Data (PID)

Preferred Requirements:

  • One year of auto insurance claims experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (business related degree preferred)
